Message from Alderman Matt O'Shea, flooding meetings

posted Aug 5, 2011, 6:08 PM by Abraham Lentner

In the past two years, our community has suffered through several intense rain storms. These storms bring record setting volumes of rain in a short period of time creating severe flooding problems for thousands of residents. Over the past several weeks the Department of Water Management and National Power Rodding have been working throughout the Beverly, Morgan Park, and Mount Greenwood communities cleaning, rodding, and inspecting several miles of sewer lines.

The Chicago Department of Water Management, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, and Alderman Matt O'Shea will co-host two community meetings on storm water management. These meetings will give homeowners the opportunity to discuss their specific issues with the engineers and learn what steps can be taken to reduce the risk of flooding.

As flooding conditions vary throughout the ward, residents are asked to attend the meeting specifically for their area.

Storm Notice from Alderman Matt O'Shea

posted Jul 1, 2011, 8:56 AM by Abraham Lentner

Last night, severe lightnight storms hit Chicago. As a result, over 4680 residential homes lost power in our community. Currently, all but 296 of those homes have been restored.

Unfortunately, the remaining outages are the result of fallen trees and downed wires. The City of Chicago Department of Forestry has been working throught the night to pickup fallen trees. Their crews will continue to work ComEd until all outages are restored.

If part of all of your tree fell in the public way and has not been picked up, please respond to this e-mail or call 3-1-1 as soon as possible. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and hope that you are able to enjoy the holiday weekend. Thank you for your patience as the situation is resolved.

Sincerely,

Matt O'Shea
